In her first final of the 2020 Games, Katie Ledecky failed to win. The American swimming star finished instead took home silver in the 400-meter freestyle on Sunday night. Australia’s Ariarne Titmus finished in first with a time of 3:56.69. Ledecky came in less than a second after the Aussie at 3:57.36.

As those times indicate, it was a close race. Ledecky was in the lead after 300 meters, but that’s when Titmus turned it on. She passed Ledecky in that lap, and held on in the final 100 meters to win the race.
