RITE AIDS AND GIANT EAGLES THA DO VACCINATIONS WILL BE GETTING MORE DOSES NEXT WEEK. BUT IT’S ALL RELATIVE. EACH GIANT EAGLE AND RITE AID DOING VACCINATIONS IN OUR AREA ONLY GOT 100 DOSES EACH, ACCORDING TO STATE DATA. THE BIG THRU-LINE REMAINS, THE NUMBER OF DOSES JUST ISN’T THERE. The Allegheny County Health Department said that, starting at noon Thursday, call-takers at 211 will provide phone support for scheduling COVID-19 vaccine appointments.Those call takers will also answer questions about the vaccines.The health department said there will be 750 available slots for the next two weeks and they are expected to fill quickly.They also noted anyone calling before noon on Thursday will not be able to register for an appointment.The phone support comes as the health department has expanded its partnership with the United Way of Southwestern Pennsylvania. All of the appointments will be for the health department’s vaccine Point of Dispensing location at the DoubleTree Hotel in Monroeville.The health department said public notice will be provided and phone scheduling will end once appointments are filled.Per their news release, the 211 line is only for scheduled appointments for people who are 65 and older and only for the Monroeville location. It’s intended to help people without internet access.
