Both Maluma and CNCO were present at the 2020 MTV Video Music Awards Sunday night (Aug. 30), where they all not only performed on the innovative stage at Brooklyn’s Skyline Drive-In New York City, but also nabbed Moon Persons.

Rocking a neon yellow suit and accompanied by a group of dancers (all wearing their masks), the Colombian singer performed his single “Hawai.” CNCO, who performed at the VMAs red carpet in 2019, took the mainstage for the first time with the TV debut of their new single “Beso.”

Besides crooning and pumping up the limited, socially-distanced audience, both Maluma and CNCO also went home with their first-ever Moon Person statuettes. Maluma won Best Latin for his J Balvin-assisted “Que Pena,” while CNCO took home best quarantine performance.

If there’s one thing that both Latin acts can agree on, it’s that winning this award is a “dream come true.”

“I always dreamed of this,” Maluma expressed on Instagram. “I share this with my people in Medellin and my parcero J Balvin. 2020 is a difficult year but we continue going.” Maluma now joins previous best Latin winners Rosalía, J Balvin, and El Guincho for “Con Altura” (2019) and J Balvin and Willy William for “Mi Gente” (2018).

CNCO, on the other hand, thanked their devoted CNCOwners and their team. “You guys are the best!” group member Joel Pimentel said on Instagram. “We saw all of the votes and all the support on social media. This is for you guys!”
