Armed man shoots at Arrowhead Stadium, KCPD shuts down entire complex – KMBC Kansas City

Police shut down the Truman Sports Complex Saturday afternoon after an armed man fired shots at Arrowhead Stadium from the parking lot.Police said the man was firing at employees, but no one has been shot. Officers are currently in a stand-off with the armed individual. Police said tactical officers and negotiators have made contact with the suspect, and that he is contained to the south side of the complex. There are no sporting events being held at the complex this afternoon, but police are asking everyone to avoid the area. There is a Royals game scheduled for 6:00 p.m., but a Royals spokesperson tells KMBC 9 it’s not expected to impact the game. Manager Mike Matheny said all players arrived safely at Kauffman Stadium and used alternate entrances to avoid the standoff situation. As usual, no fans are allowed due to COVID-19. Police say at this time, they don’t know the motivation behind the shooting. KMBC has crews on the scene and will provide more updates as they’re available.
