When Prince Harry and Meghan, Duchess of Sussex announced their resignation as senior working members of the British royal family, jaws dropped. Though it was clear the duo were having some issues within the royal fold, their charm and charisma never wavered, and they were still extremely popular across the globe.
Still, the Sussexes were determined to take back control of their own destiny, so they moved to the duchess hometown of LA to begin crafting a life that put their passions first while giving them financial independence.
Due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, the Sussexes’ plans have stalled. However, one royal insider believes that Meghan’s latest move means the duo is ready to get the ball rolling on their new careers.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle need to start making money
Presently, the Sussexes and their young son, Archie Harrison, are staying at media mogul, Tyler Perry’s Beverly Hills home as they wait out the pandemic. Though the pair have a combined net worth of about $30 million, living expenses, rent to Frogmore Cottage, payment for security, and paying back taxpayers for renovations at Frogmore are certainly eating away at their bank accounts.
In fact, aside from the reported $1 million, Prince Harry earned for a February 2020 speech at a JP Morgan event in Miami, the pair haven’t earned any income yet.
“They do need to make money,” royal expert Katie Nicholl told Entertainment Tonight. “They’ve been in LA since March, they left the Royal Family at the end of March, and as yet, they haven’t actually earned anything.”
Meghan Markle has always wanted to return to Hollywood
The Sussexes had planned to launch their new venture, Archewell foundation. However, Prince Harry and Meghan’s focus on COVID-19 and the Black Lives Matter movement has pushed their foundation launch to 2021.
Though Archewell is said to consist of everything from movies to podcasts, clothing to charitable services, and even online seminars, lectures, and retreats, it looks like the duchess has her sights set on her former industry, entertainment. An alleged insider told The Sun,
Meghan remains hugely ambitious and is very open-minded to a return to acting which is what she knows, loves and does best. Her preference is to explore the route of a documentary in which she is able to follow up some of the causes she is interested in. This wish has been the focus of some of her most recent meetings and will likely shape the kind of work the agent Meghan goes with seeks to get for her. She is very excited about what the future holds.

Meghan Markle just signed on to produce a political film
Now, The Sun is reporting that Meghan has signed a deal with Election Year author, Lloyd Scott to produce a politically-motivated film based on the novel. Election Year follows Senate staffer Maverick Johnson Malone. Maverick is working for a popular senator Suni Wainwright, who is revealed to be a Russian operative.
“It would be a great screenplay and Meghan would have all the contacts to make it huge,” an insider told The Sun. “It contains messages about democracy and standing up for what is right — which Meghan is all about.”
For now, Meghan has said she never wants to act again, but Election Year could be the first film to launch under the production branch of Archewell.
