Interestingly they went with King this time

The King of Fighters 15 is continuing the fun trend of revealing a new character for the fighting game every week, and this time around they went above the previous tradition by giving us two combatants.

SNK just released the new announcement trailer for Ryo Sakazaki and Robert Garcia in KOF15 as the final two members of Team Art of Fighting — though number three isn’t Yuri.

The Invincible Dragon and Raging Tiger are back once again which shouldn’t really be a surprise at this point considering their tenure in SNK fighting games as a whole.

As expected of the series mainstays, Robert and Ryo should look very familiar to their previous counterparts with all of the fireballs, uppercuts and lightning kicks / punches you could ask for from the karate masters.

Interestingly, there appears to be something shown a few times in the trailer that may be a new mechanic for KOF15 when compared to the last game considering we can see Robert seemingly armor his way through Ryo’s attack for a huge crumple punish — and the same in reverse too.

Also fairly unexpectedly, King is revealed as member of Team Art of Fighting alongside the boys, and while they’ve fought together in the past certainly, it’s been 21 years since this original AoF trio appeared on the same team together.

Robert and Ryo date back all of the way to the original Art of Fighting game as the main protagonists trying to rescue Yuri from Mr. Big which was then followed by the elder Sakazaki sibling winning the the first King of Fighters tournament. The duo has appeared in pretty much every KOF title ever since.

We’re now approaching almost the half-way point of 2021, and we still don’t know when KOF15 is supposed to release this year or even what systems the fighting game will appear on.

You can rock out with Robert and Ryo in their reveal trailer below as well as check out some lovely 4K resolution screenshots of their fighting arts.
