Time for some high heat.

That was the message YES Network’s Michael Kay delivered Wednesday before the New York Yankees beat the Minnesota Twins, 9-6.

Ace Gerrit Cole put cheating rumors to rest by striking out nine over six innings. Two of those punchouts came against Twins slugger Josh Donaldson, who threw Cole under the bus over the weekend by accusing the right-hander of juicing his spin rate.

And that didn’t sit well with Kay.

“I’ll tell you what. What Michael Kay the player would do, and I’m not advocating, please don’t think I’m advocating for it, but I think Chris Carlin said it at the end of the show yesterday with us. Josh Donaldson getting one right in the ribs for opening his mouth. Why are you jumping me? Even Cole said that was low-hanging fruit, because he’s the guy with the big contract. He’s getting one right in the ribs in the first inning. Right in the ribs. You want to talk? Try talking with a broken rib.”

Cole opted not to throw at Donaldson and chose to let his pitching doing the talking for him. The right-hander gave up two runs in picking up his seventh win of the season. Donaldson finished 0-for-5 with those two strikeouts.
