The Pittsburgh Steelers are coming off their first preseason win after their 16-3 victory over the Dallas Cowboys in the NFL’s annual Hall of Fame game. With the players having off Friday, the organization was looking at available talent still on the market.

In fact, they hosted three players for workouts, according to Aaron Wilson. The first player made public was Malcolm Pridgeon.

Pridgeon was a COVID opt-out for the Cleveland Browns in 2020, and was released from the organization prior to the start of training camp. The offensive guard is an Ohio State graduate and got into the league in 2019 after signing with the Houston Texans as an undrafted rookie free agent. He was released, and eventually signed with the Browns.

This would be Pridgeon’s latest, and possibly final, shot in the NFL if the Steelers were to give him another chance at life in the league.

The other players who worked out were Curtis Bolton and T.J. Morrison.

Bolton is a linebacker who attended Oklahoma before signing with the Green Bay Packers as an undrafted rookie free agent in the 2019 NFL Draft. Bolton tore his ACL in 2019 and was placed on the Physically Unable to Perform list to start the 2020 season. In October of 2020 he was released by the Packers and was signed by the Houston Texans to their practice squad. After he signed a future/reserve contract with the Texans he was released in March.

Morrison is a defensive back from Stony Brook who was signed by the Las Vegas Raiders as an undrafted rookie free agent following the 2021 NFL Draft. He was released in July of this year and is still looking for his next professional team.

So, to recap, the Steelers hosted an offensive guard, a linebacker and a defensive back. Read into this what you want, but the Steelers have yet to pull the trigger on signing any of these aforementioned players.
