PROVO — Allegiant Air announced Tuesday that it will open new nonstop routes from the Provo Airport to Houston, Texas, and Palm Springs, California, this fall.

The Las Vegas-based airline is offering limited low-cost one-way fares on the new routes as low as $39, starting on Nov. 18 for Houston and Nov. 19 for Palm Springs. The new routes are part of a 22-route expansion, connecting 24 additional cities, including Las Vegas.

“A hallmark of Allegiant’s service is to connect travelers to warmer destinations where they can enjoy a variety of outdoor leisure activities,” said Drew Wells, Allegiant’s senior vice president of revenue and network planning. “And we’ve continued that tradition with this expansion by giving customers more affordable, nonstop options to visit Florida, Arizona and California during the fall and winter seasons.”

With COVID-19 travel restrictions, many airlines have added extensive layovers and nonstop flights have been in short supply, which is why Allegiant is focusing on nonstop services through smaller airports in communities that have traditionally lacked commercial air service.
