Good Morning America mourns death of producer Daisha Riley: One of our stars – USA TODAY

The “Good Morning America” staff is mourning the death of producer Daisha Riley.

During the broadcast Tuesday, co-host Michael Strahan announced the news.

“One of our stars, Daisha Riley, a young and talented producer, suddenly and unexpectedly passed away,” he said. “She rose through the ranks over the years on our show, working on stories that have made so many of you, our viewers, smile and tear up. Her legacy lives on in a powerful voice she shared through storytelling.”

As a montage of photos of Riley played, he continued, “You might not have known Daisha Riley’s name, but if you watched GMA for the past 14 years, trust us, you saw her incredible work, because Daisha loved nothing more than telling America a story.”

According to Entertainment Tonight and Variety, Riley has 35.

Strahan shared the clip to his Twitter with his own special message.

“Sending love to the family and friends of Daisha Riley. Rest in peace,” he wrote with a heart emoji.

The “Good Morning America” Twitter account also shared a photo of Riley.

“Rest in peace, our beautiful friend,” the image was captioned.

Other “GMA” stars took to Twitter to pay tribute to Riley as well.

Robin Roberts described Riley as “a remarkable woman.”

“Talented, creative, kind, a beautiful soul in every way. Condolences to her beloved family,” she continued. “Our @GMA family loved her and will be forever grateful to have experienced Daisha’s grace & grit.”

Amy Robach tweeted, “Sending love to sweet Daisha’s family – she was a bright light that shined on everyone she met – we will do our best to carry her light in our hearts each and every day.”

“GMA” associate producer Dom Proto shared a lengthy tribute to Riley.

“A tremendous loss for our @GMA family. Woke up last night to the devastating news that our Daisha passed away. Daisha – you trained me when I started at GMA. Our time in the edit room for those awards show pieces- a beautiful memory,” he wrote. “Thank you for everything. Rest in paradise.”

Ginger Zee shared Proto’s message, adding, “Giant loss for our @GMA family. Rest In Peace Daisha.”
