SAN DIEGO — Jorge Soler drilled a key three-run homer and delivered the go-ahead single that allowed the Braves to claim a thrilling 10-8, 10-inning win over the Padres on Saturday night at Petco Park.

Soler’s RBI single off Daniel Hudson in the 10th created a lead that was extended by Ozzie Albies’ sacrifice fly. The comeback win allowed the Braves to remain 1 1/2 games ahead of the second-place Phillies in the National League East race. Their magic number to clinch a division title is seven with eight games remaining.

Eddie Rosario gave the Braves life in the ninth inning with the game-tying, two-out RBI single off former Braves closer Mark Melancon. Rosario’s game-extending single erased the lead the Padres had gained with Victor Caratini’s sixth-inning RBI single off Chris Martin.
