The Colts are re-signing cornerback Xavier Rhodes to a 1-year, $6.5 million deal, per Ian Rapoport.

After a down year with the Vikings in 2019, Rhodes was exceptional for Indianapolis this past season with 12 pass deflections and two interceptions.

Rhodes also had one of the best seasons in his career, surrendering just a .519 completion percentage, according to Pro Football Reference.

Despite the departure of former defensive backs coach Jonathan Gannon — Gannon is now the DC with the Philadelphia Eagles — Rhodes returns to the Colts on another team-friendly deal.

As free agency continues to unfold, so too does GM Chris Ballard’s plan, which has now included rewarding two of their better players — Xavier Rhodes and Marlon Mack — with one-year extensions.

There’s no question that Rhodes’ return is a major win for the Colts, as the team now has retained its same secondary starters from last season— including Pro-Bowl cornerback Kenny Moore and up-and-coming star safety Julian Blackmon.

With a full year of DC Matt Eberflus’ system under his belt, the former All-Pro, in Rhodes, will look to build on his performance from last year.
