Hip hop legend Biz Markie is alive and in hospice care, despite reports he has passed away at 57-years-old. 

Reporter Brandon ‘Scoop B’ Robinson updated the public via Twitter on Wednesday night, adding that family says the singer has ‘significant brain damage,’ likely stemming from a stroke he suffered last year. 

Markie’s representatives told DailyMail.com: ‘Biz is still under medical care, surrounded by professionals who are working hard to provide the best healthcare possible. 

‘Biz’s wife and family are touched by the outpouring of love and admiration from his friends, peers and fans alike.’

They added that: ‘At this time, we ask for your continued thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.’ 

Roland S. Martin also took to Twitter with a statement, getting confirmation from the rapper’s wife Tara.

‘Folks, @BizMarkie has NOT died. I have been in contact with sources who are texting and talking to his wife. My source talked to Biz TODAY. 

‘Per his wife, Biz HAS NOT passed away. Please stop responding to non-credible sources. This hurts the family, friends and fans,’ he said in a tweet.

Martin added in another tweet that he personally did not talk to the rapper, but his source, ‘an industry legend,’ did talk to him and his wife.
