The San Francisco 49ers’ 2021 campaign is spiraling out of control. As a result, there is a lot of blame to spread around. While quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo is receiving his fair share of it, so is head coach Kyle Shanahan. As the leader of the football team, he is responsible for preparing his players for game days, and the players have looked anything but prepared during this four-game losing streak.

After the game, Shanahan did his best to hide his frustration resulting from his squad’s latest defeat, a 30-18 loss to the Indianapolis Colts. There will be a lot to assess tomorrow morning. The coach was asked if he is deserving of the scrutiny that is being piled on him.

“Yeah, you lose four games in a row, I’m the head coach of this team, I expect it, and I deserve it,” Shanahan responded.

The 49ers put together good drives here and there. Against the Colts, San Francisco’s offense put together an impressive-looking 10-play, 78-yard opening scoring drive. In the fourth quarter, they went on a four-play, 70-yard scoring drive. Everything else was a bit of a mess.

Shanahan was asked if he feels like he’s gotten into a play-calling rhythm for an entire game this season.

“I don’t think I’ve gotten into a great rhythm,” Shanahan answered. “I think we’ve done it on a couple of drives, but we have not sustained that, and I know I have not felt comfortable with it.”

Garoppolo was also asked about dealing with the criticisms directed at himself.

“We’re a tight team right now, I think,” the quarterback responded. “So, it starts with me, no doubt about it, but I think we’ve got a good group of guys, and, like I said, we’ve got to go back to work now.”

The 49ers, once considered a championship contender, will try to end their embarrassing losing streak next weekend on the road against the Chicago Bears.

John Lynch ‘fully confident’ 49ers can rebound from 3-game losing streak

The San Francisco 49ers started 2-0 but have since lost three consecutive games. No one inside the organization is panicking, though. Instead, the focus remains on one game at a time. That means looking toward the Indianapolis Colts, not backward at the Green Bay Packers, Seattle Seahawks, and Arizona Cardinals.

At 2-3, San Francisco sits in last place within the NFC West. However, general manager John Lynch is confident he and head coach Kyle Shanahan have built a roster that can rebound. The 49ers are in their bye week, and a lot of football remains in this 17-game season.

“I’m fully confident [the pieces are in place to turn things around] because of the people in our room and the character of the people in our room, because of the people we have in leadership

Trent Williams: No need to panic; 49ers have the ‘talent we need in-house’ to end losing streak

The San Francisco 49ers have lost three consecutive games and look to turn their season around on Sunday night against the Indianapolis Colts. At 2-3, the team finds itself looking up at the division-leading Arizona Cardinals (6-0) and Los Angeles Rams (5-1). The Niners have lost to the Cardinals and Seattle Seahawks and have yet to play the Rams.

Williams says there is no panic in the building. The team knows the locker room is talented enough to rebound on its own.

“We’re not waiting for somebody to walk through the door,” Williams told reporters after today’s practice. “We’ve got all the talent we need in-house. … We’ve just got to put it all together on Sunday.”

Kyle Shanahan expects Jimmy Garoppolo to be 100 percent for 49ers-Colts, hopes Trent Williams can practice Friday

San Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan joined KNBR this afternoon and provided two key injury updates. One was on his starting quarterback, Jimmy Garoppolo, who is returning from a calf injury suffered on October 3. The injury forced him to miss Week 5, but the coach sounds more and more confident that Garoppolo will be ready for Sunday’s home game against the Indianapolis Colts.

“He’s getting better each day,” Shanahan said on the Tolbert, Krueger & Brooks show. “I mean, there shouldn’t be any problem with him by Sunday at all. Any time you’re coming off the calf injury like that, it takes a little time to get that soreness out, so you’ll see it on some throws here and there. But each day it gets much better, and I think he’ll be feeling 100 percent by

“We’ve been our own worst enemy”: Kyle Shanahan on how the 49ers can rebound from 3-game skid

The San Francisco 49ers self-scouted themselves during the bye week. What are the areas they saw that require improvement to snap their three-game losing streak?

“There isn’t one specific [area],” Shanahan told Greg Papa during a segment for NBC Sports Bay Area. “We need to get better all over because it hasn’t just been, ‘Hey, we’re doing this bad. We’re doing this good.’ We’ve been up and down at everything, and if you even look at the numbers, we’re kind of middle of the pack everywhere. And that’s why the majority of this league is sitting at 2-3, 3-2, right there. And where are you going to go from there?

“My biggest thing on what we need to do to get better is, I think you’ve heard our players say it a lot, but I keep talking to them about, ‘Which team is
