MBTA suspends downtown Green Line service for hours due to tunnel damage – WCVB Boston

Green Line train service between the Copley and Government Center MBTA stations was suspended for hours on Saturday due to tunnel damage caused by utility work happening on Tremont Street, according to the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority.Service was first suspended between Boylston and Government Center at about 1:20 p.m., but that suspension of service was extended to Arlington Station about 20 minutes later. The service suspension was then extended to Copley Station just after 3 p.m.The MBTA tweeted that Green Line trains were delayed for more than 30 minutes at one point, and that some trains may have been rerouted at Boston University East, Kenmore or Northeastern University.The transit authority also asked riders to use the Orange Line for alternate downtown service.Some riders took to social media to voice their frustration. One rider claimed that they were on a stopped train for more than an hour with no updates.
