No. 2 Notre Dame has everything clicking on offense and currently is in control, leading Boston College on the road 31-16 at halftime on Saturday. Ian Book has continued the impressive performance he had against Clemson in the double-overtime win last week, rolling up 213 passing yards and three touchdowns on 17-of-22 passing while adding a team-high 67 rushing yards on eight attempts. Boston College has tried to load up to stop the running backs, but Book has made them pay with his own contributions to the ground game and ability to extend the play with his feet while keeping his eyes down the field.

Boston College quarterback Phil Jurkovec has had some success against the Notre Dame defense, but ever since a first-quarter touchdown, the Eagles have not been able to take advantage of scoring opportunities against a bend-but-don’t-break Fighting Irish defense that has lived up to its reputation.

There have been plenty twists and turns, including two Notre Dame fumbles lost and a bungled Boston College snap that handed the ball right back to the Irish after one of the those turnovers. But even after the bad breaks, the No. 2 team in the country carries a two-score lead into halftime.
