Shanna Moakler says social media “saved her life” after her on-again, off-again boyfriend, Matthew Rondeau, went on a social media tirade that ended in a domestic violence arrest.
“Thank you to everyone calling with concern about Shanna,” her manager, David Weintraub, tells Page Six. “She is OK and survived this traumatic experience.”
The CEO Of DWE Talent added that Moakler, 46, is “especially” thankful to “all of her fans who saw this horrible incident unfold on social media.”
“Thankfully the police saved her from harms way and she is doing fine,” he added. “At the moment she asks that she is giver her space to adjust to life after this trauma.”
Weintraub said because of Moakler’s fans “reaching out to Shanna,” Rondeau’s video was “flagged immediately and police were called.”
The rep concluded, “Social media saved her life.”
In a separate statement to Us Weekly, Moakler also said via her rep, I wanted to let everybody know that I’m OK and thank you for your love and support. I’m surrounded by my family and friends.”
Moakler’s daughter, Alabama Barker, also gave concerned fans an update on her mother’s well-being earlier in the day.
“Just texted my mom! I’m not sure what happened on her live,” the 16-year-old wrote on her Instagram. “I’m in contact with her and she’s okay.”
She then added of Rondeau, 29, “That man needs serious help.”
LAPD confirmed to Page Six Thursday officers responded to a call about a dispute at Moakler’s house at 8:17 a.m. local time. Police then took an individual into custody.
TMZ reported Rondeau was facing a felony domestic violence charge.
The aspiring actor and “Celebrity Big Brother” star had reportedly been fighting since Wednesday night, but Moakler left the residence to sleep over a neighbor’s house.
Then early on Thursday, Rondeau posted an expletive and slur-filled rant on Instagram, in which the model claimed Moakler had been cheating on him.
He also alleged that he made more money than Moakler and that the former Miss USA was not over her exes, including Travis Barker. Barker shares Alabama and 18-year-old son, Landon, with Moakler.
Rondeau’s apparent jealousy issues started coming more to the forefront earlier this month, while Moakler was filming for “CBB.”
The model reportedly grew jealous of Moakler’s growing bond with fellow competitor Lamar Odom on the show.
Rondeau unfollowed Moakler on Instagram, which then prompted her to do the same once she left the reality competition.
However, soon after the pair claimed they were “working” on things and were spotted on a romantic outing earlier this week.
In October 2021, Page Six broke the news that Moakler and Rondeau had once again gotten back together after a breakup.
