Stocks fell and bond yields rose after data showed another acceleration in inflation, taking it to a new-four-decade high.

The S&P 500 lost 1.2% Thursday, a day after the benchmark index rose 1.5% Wednesday. The Nasdaq Composite Index lost 1.75%, pointing to losses for technology stocks after the index rallied the previous day. The Dow Jones Industrial Average edged down 0.6%.
